Meet our photography team
Nasim and I, Jafar, had a big adventure riding our bicycle around the world, not just for sightseeing but also to spread messages about peace and nature. After our travels, we decided to settle down in Vancouver. Once here, we realized our passion for capturing life’s precious moments through photography. So we officially launched Jana Photography. Starting from a small studio near Boundary and Hastings and now at 2465 Kingsway, Vancouver BC, we’ve grown with the demand. We’ve become one big happy family with our fantastic photographer Mahsa. Today, we’re proud to be one of Vancouver’s top choices for maternity photographers, baby, and newborn photographers. How it works!
1. Contact us & let us know what you want
This is the first step to getting to know each other and plan for the special day. To get started, simply fill out the form on our website, and we will get back to you within 24 hours. The more detail you provide in the form, the better chance we have to recommend the right service and availability for you. 2. Style & Concept consultation
We’ll have a friendly chat to discuss and plan the perfect style for your photos, ensuring everything is just how you imagined. We will help you choose the right service from the package options in our online catalogue. You can tell us about yourself and the family members you would like to include in the session, and we will recommend the best option that suits your needs. Whether you are booking a newborn, maternity, or baby photo session, there are some particular steps for booking and planning. Be sure to check how it works for each service for more details. We have FAQ answers as well as workflow details for all services.
3. Photoshoot day
On the day of the photoshoot, we'll have a fun and relaxed session, capturing amazing photos that you'll love. We do two sessions per day: one in the morning around 10:30 AM and the other at 2 PM, with enough time between sessions for cleaning up. At Jana, we have everything you need to relax, including coffee and snacks, a TV, a kids' play area, a washroom, and a kitchen with a microwave, a bottle warmer, a changing area, and a changing table.
4. Online gallery
After the shoot, in about a few days, you'll get access to a private online gallery where you can view and choose your favorite pictures to be edited. You can also add editing comments there for our editing team. There are options to order additional photos and prints à la carte.
5. Receive your amazing products
Finally, your beautiful photos and any products you ordered will be delivered to you, ready for you to enjoy! Depending on your package, you will receive your digital images via a Dropbox link or a custom USB. All prints, albums, and lay flats will be ready for pickup at the studio in less than a week after the order.

FAQ
Please book your photography session BEFORE your little ones arrives. We will schedule your session within the first few weeks after the baby comes. They grow and change so fast! Jana wants to capture them exactly how they are when they are brand new.
$200 deposit required to confirm the booking. Balance due at the session.
All sessions and products are subject to GST tax.
Don’t worry about the changes to your delivery schedule. We are totally aware of that.
We require a $200 deposit to secure your spot according to the estimated due date. Once we confirm, we guaranty to accommodate you in the golden time of newborn photography, regardless of any changes in your delivery schedule.
We expect you to update us with the baby’s weight and the date of birth as soon as you saw the baby’s beautiful face.
The professional studio flashlight setup, never can harm them while they are sleeping. However, even with open eyes, we use a reflective lighting system professionally set for baby, that wouldn’t cause any problem. Many parents love to have picture of their babies with open eyes when they are wide awake showing us their most adorable facial expressions.
Studio and natural light
In Jana photography studio, we also have a natural light studio. It means if your baby doesn’t like to go back to sleep, we can definitely use the beauty of natural light. Read studio flashlight photography blog for more information.
Most newborn images are done without clothing, and we have a ton of props and blankets to use, so you don’t have to worry about purchasing anything! The baby wraps and props are included in all the packages free of charge.
After each session, we go through the photos and narrow down the gallery to the best pictures. You just need to wait about 1 week for your gallery to get ready for viewing. Your online viewing gallery you get a chance to see all the digital proofs/raw images.
In most cases, the gallery comes with more than 50 images. That’s where you make your favourite selection and choose the ones you like the best as part of your package. We don’t give away raw images for free. You can buy the raw images or add more pictures a la carte and have them professionally edited.
Wait time
Once we receive the favourite selection the order goes on the editing lineup and waits for its turn for the professional retouching. The total turnaround is about 4-6 weeks depending on how busy the line is. The faster you submit your selection, the sooner the project goes on the line.
If the package includes prints, we recommend our clients first choose the photos, then get the edited versions and order the prints out of the high-resolution edited versions which come in color and black & white versions.
You will get the exact same number of pictures as purchased in the package you book. If you like more photos you have the option to purchase extra images a la carte. We don’t give away raw images for free and they are all copyright protected. Since we share a nice variety of pictures in your online gallery, people always end up adding more pictures as we always go over the client’s expectation. We like this process to be hard for our clients on a positive way. Always feels good to have more options.
Additional images
The additional images (digital copy) are each $40 + GST and they get professionally retouched provided in both color and Black&White version in high resolution. Jana Photography also have package discounts for adding 5 or 10 extra images.
Once you book and secure your spot, we send you a confirmation email. The email includes information about getting ready, clothing, necessary items to bring, and details for the address and parking.
Dogs/pets are welcomed with conditions. Please read the terms and preparation and see the samples in this link if you want to include your do in the session.
