How Do I Get Ready for a Newborn Photography Session?

Getting ready for your newborn photography session? Here’s everything you need to know — what to wear, what to bring, studio location, and more.

Dear wonderful parents,

We’re thrilled to capture beautiful moments with you and your little one! Just a few friendly notes to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Important Tips for Your Newborn Photography Session

Limited bookings We keep things cozy with only one family a day, so your session gets our full attention.
Reschedule / cancel We need 5 business days advance notice to reschedule. Missing your appointment or last-minute cancellation means saying goodbye to your $200 deposit, which covers the reserved studio time, staff, and preparation.
Arrival time Traffic can be tricky, so plan ahead. Late arrivals mean a shorter session — we wouldn’t want you to miss a moment.
Immediate family only To add grandparents, check the à la carte pricing and options. Our included accommodation is for immediate family only.
Shoes off Kick off your shoes at the door for a homey feel, or bring your favourite socks or slippers.
Health & safety We’re fully vaccinated and monitor cold symptoms. If you’re feeling under the weather, let us know so we can share safety guidance.

For Newborn Baby Pictures

For the newborn photography photoshoot, we provide cute wraps, headbands, bonnets, and props. They’re all part of our service, so you’re welcome to use and choose from them during your session.

No need to worry about bringing baby clothes, unless you have a particular outfit or props you’d like to include. Feel free to bring those along, and we’ll gladly use them in some of the shots.

To be extra prepared, think about the colour theme for your session. For inspiration, take a peek at our Instagram page and save your favourites. Remember, time is limited, so choose wisely based on the service you’ve booked — each of these adorable shots takes time to capture perfectly.

Got any special ideas or props you’d like to include? Bring them along too! Whether it’s related to your job, a sport you love, or something you’re passionate about, we’re open to incorporating your personal touch into the photoshoot. Some of the pictures in our portfolio even feature clients’ own special items.

For Family Pictures

Parents, you’re the stars! Take a little time for clean hair and simple makeup. Dads, a fresh haircut is a bonus — our Photoshop skills don’t include haircuts, unfortunately! 😄

For family shots, we offer options: full body or waist-up. We suggest coordinating outfits in light or earthy tones — light grey, beige, cream, or white complement our studio and natural lighting beautifully.

If you’ve booked a longer session, feel free to change outfits. For full-body shots, a lovely long dress for mom and a white dress shirt with khaki pants for dad are ideal. For a more casual look, jeans and a T-shirt work great!

Concerned about your post-pregnancy belly showing? Opt for a top with fitted lining underneath and a loose, sheer fabric or cardigan on top.

Need ideas? Check these samples, our Instagram, or our newborn photography gallery for inspiration!
