Burnaby Families Trust JaNa Photography
Burnaby is where we grew up as a studio. Long before we moved to our current location on Kingsway, we were photographing Burnaby newborns in living rooms, on beanbags, in borrowed light — learning what it means to be trusted with a family’s most fragile and precious days. That history is in everything we do.
Today, JaNa Photography is one of the most recognized newborn studios in the Lower Mainland, with over 15 years of experience, more than 300 five-star Google reviews, and recognition as a Top 3 newborn photographer in the Vancouver area for multiple consecutive years. But what we are most proud of is simpler than any award: Burnaby families come back. They bring their second baby, their third. They refer their sisters and their coworkers. That kind of trust is not given — it is earned, one session at a time.
Our studio on Kingsway sits right on the boundary between Vancouver and Burnaby. For most Burnaby families, we are closer than any other professional newborn studio in the city — and you will feel that the moment you walk through the door.
The Studio on Your Doorstep near Burnaby
Kingsway runs straight from the heart of Burnaby into our studio door. There is no bridge to cross, no highway to navigate, no unfamiliar part of the city to find. For families in Brentwood, Metrotown, Edmonds, and Burnaby Heights, we are genuinely just down the road — often closer than the grocery store you drive to each week.
We mention this not to sell convenience, but because we know how much it matters when you have a newborn. The shorter the journey, the calmer your baby arrives. The calmer your baby arrives, the more relaxed the session becomes. And a relaxed session is where the best photographs happen.
Our studio at 2465 Kingsway has free parking directly outside, a ground-level entrance, and a warm reception area where you can settle in before we begin. Everything about the space is designed to make the day feel easy — because the moments we are capturing are already extraordinary enough on their own.
A Studio Built for Burnaby Babies
We have photographed newborns from every corner of Burnaby — from the high-rises of Brentwood Park to the quiet streets of Capitol Hill, from young families in Metrotown to grandparent-filled homes in Willingdon Heights. Every one of those babies was welcomed into the same warm, unhurried studio environment, with the same careful attention to safety, comfort, and artistry.
The studio itself is 1,400 square feet of purpose-built newborn photography space. We maintain a warm temperature throughout every session. We have a full wardrobe of wraps, outfits, and headbands, a carefully curated collection of handcrafted props, and multiple lighting configurations — both studio flash and natural light — so we can create the look that fits your family perfectly.
There is a private feeding area, a kitchenette with a bottle warmer, comfortable lounge seating for parents, and a kids’ corner for older siblings. You arrive with your baby. We handle everything else.
What Happens on the Day
A few days before your session, we send a preparation guide covering everything from how to feed your baby beforehand, what to wear, how to handle last-minute nerves, and what to expect when you arrive. By the time you pull into the car park on Kingsway, you will know exactly what the day looks like.
We begin every session slowly. Your baby leads. We do not move to the next setup until your little one is settled, fed, and comfortable. Some sessions flow quickly. Others take longer — and that is perfectly fine. We have never rushed a pose, and we never will.
What Burnaby parents tell us most often afterwards is that they expected it to be stressful, and it simply was not. The studio was calm. The baby cooperated more than they imagined. And the photos looked nothing like what they thought a studio session would look like. That reaction — that quiet surprise — is exactly what we work towards.
Baby's Comfort Comes First
Every setup, every pose, every transition happens only when your baby is settled and ready. Safety is never compromised — not once, not ever.
Everything Is Provided
Wraps, blankets, outfits, headbands, baskets, and props are all included. You do not need to bring a single thing for the baby.
Your Whole Family, Welcome
Partners, siblings, grandparents, and even the family dog can be part of your session. Some of our most treasured images include everyone.
Newborn Photography Packages
We offer three newborn photography packages — Basic, Classic, and Premium — each designed to give Burnaby families a complete, stress-free experience from the moment you book to the moment you receive your gallery.
Every package includes professionally edited, high-resolution digital images. Family photos with parents and siblings are included. Props, outfits, and wraps are all provided. You choose the package that fits your family and your budget — we take care of the rest.
Packages start from $470 + GST. Newborn sessions must happen within the first 6 to 20 days of birth, so we recommend reserving your spot while you are still pregnant. We hold a flexible window around your due date and confirm the exact session time once your baby arrives. A $200 deposit secures your booking.
Why Burnaby Families Choose Us Year After Year
There are many photographers in Burnaby and the surrounding area. We are not going to tell you we are the only option — we are going to tell you why families who have done their research keep choosing us.
First, experience. Fifteen years of photographing newborns means we have seen everything — colicky babies, difficult lighting, tired parents, unexpected schedule changes — and we know how to navigate all of it without the session ever feeling like it has gone off the rails. That experience is invisible in the final photos, but you will feel it throughout the day.
Second, safety. Jafar holds Emergency Child Care First Aid certification from the Canadian Red Cross. Nasim holds First Aid certification from St. John Ambulance. Every pose is assessed for safety before it is attempted. No image is worth a moment of risk to your baby.
Third, the photographs themselves. We do not produce generic studio portraits. Every session is lit, composed, and edited to reflect the specific feel of your family — the colours, the mood, the quiet details that make these days uniquely yours. When you open your gallery, you will see photographs that look like you.
FAQ From Burnaby
How close is the studio to Burnaby?
Our studio is at 2465 Kingsway, Vancouver — right on the Burnaby border. Kingsway runs directly from Burnaby into our front door, with no bridge or highway in between. Families from Brentwood and Metrotown are typically 5 to 10 minutes away. Families from Edmonds and Deer Lake are usually 10 to 15 minutes. Free parking is available directly outside.
When should I book my newborn session?
We recommend booking while you are still pregnant, ideally in your second trimester. Newborn sessions take place between 6 and 20 days after birth — a very short window — and our calendar fills up quickly, especially in spring and summer. Booking early lets us hold a flexible spot around your due date and adjust once your baby arrives.
